City of Hemet,  CA  Supports
Rio+20 Conference?

When we saw our City of Hemet on the list - what a shocker!  This is not an overtly  green agenda city - yet  there it is.  We quickly wrote the Mayor, City Manager and City Clerk the following email:

Good Morning Everyone -

Do you guys know who put Hemet on the ICLEI city list as listed on the ICLEI website (see link below)
http://local2012.iclei.org/add-your-city/whos-already-in/share-by-country/

This is MASSIVELY disturbing - Does anyone there know what this indicates?  If not, I suggest someone contact me.

Murrieta has not added themselves, nor San Jacinto and Temecula actually opted out of ICLEI on a grand scale.

This does NOT bode well for Hemet -  Especially for those things this current council is fighting for and has fought for - this is not where we want to be.

If I need to do a PRR to find out this information, please let me know.

To Hemet's credit - they responded within a half an hour of receiving this - a phone call from the Mayor (who honestly has no idea what it was or why they were on there) and an email from the City Clerk saying that staff was following up on it.  Good Job Hemet - now hopefully they can pinpoint who did this.

Now to take it a step further, we drafted the following letter and presented it at the City Council meeting on May 08, 2012.    Notice the bouts of sarcasm ...... :)

May 8, 1012

Robert Youssef, Mayor
Honorable City Council
City of Hemet
445 East Florida Avenue
Hemet, CA 92543

Dear Mayor, and Honorable Members of the City Council:

It has recently come to our attention that it appears that the City of Hemet has joined forces with the United Nations (UN), under the banner of the non-governmental organization (NGO) known by the acronym ICLEI, to bring a European model of socialism to our city in the form of Sustainable Development, Smart Growth, environmental justice and social equity. You can imagine our excitement to learn that this small, little part of the world known as “Hemet” will be serving as a “co-sponsor” or “co-host” for the UN’s upcoming international “summit of environmental socialists,” also known as the UN conference on Sustainable Development, which bears the conference title known as “Rio+20,” to be held in Belo Horizonte (Brazil) on June 14th through the 18th, 2012.

The organization Local Governments for Sustainability (LGS), also known as ICLEI,  was founded in 1990 as the 'International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives'.  In order to evade much of the criticism that the UN received when it released its “world governance” plan called “Agenda 21”, the organization renamed itself,  just like the proponents of “man-made global warming” did when they changed that expression to “man-made climate change.” Today, it is the leading NGO working on behalf of the UN to bring European style socialism to small and large American cities in the form of “Sustainable Development,” “Smart Growth,” “Environmental Justice,” “Social Justice,” “Social Equity,” “Economic Justice,” and many other related terms.  ICLEI was established when more than 200 local governments from 43 countries convened at the inaugural conference, the World Congress of Local Governments for a Sustainable Future, at the United Nations in New York.  Since 1990, with the aid of the UN report originally titled “Agenda 21” as authored by the Brundtland Commission under the leadership of Gro Brundtland, President of the Organization of International Socialists, and through its various mutations and renamed revisions during the succeeding 22 years,  ICLEI has been busy implementing socialistic and liberty-diminshing UN fostered and promulgated policies, regulations and mandates in cities across our nation, all under the guise of "sustainability". This effort has also been enable through the business models and training programs of the American Planning Association (APA) and radical environmental organizations across our country.

ICLEI is all about local planning of our infrastructure, physical resources and land use to create a one world community to be managed through the regulatory element using goals and directives that originate from the UN, with a complete disregard of the United States Constitution, personal property rights and the sovereignty of the American citizens.  So egregious are the mandates, policies and regulations of ICLEI and Agenda 21, many States, Counties and Cities across our country have written laws and resolutions banning the implementation or language of Agenda 21/ICLEI from their regional plans and General Plans.

Imagine our astonishment when we saw that Hemet IS one of the 8064 cities from around the world who are listed on their website as “hosting and supporting” the upcoming international Rio+20 conference.  While it has come to my attention that, on the surface, the city does not know how Hemet came to be a supporter and implementer of the Rio+20 event, or of ICLEI and it's agenda, none the less we are there.

Since our city has made this bold effort to be a part of an international effort to bring European socialism to our community, we would hereby formally request that the Hemet City Council authorize the necessary funds to send a delegation to Belo Horizonte to see exactly what they have signed up for, and to report back on how Rio+20 will benefit the citizens of our community. After all as our own federal legislators have said repeatedly, you have to approve it to find out what is in it! …. RIGHT?

On the other hand, should the city wish to disavow its association with this UN driven international effort,  it could direct staff to prepare a resolution or ordinance denouncing the UN “Agenda 21” program, including all of its transmogrification's, the NGO known as ICLEI and all of its related identities, and all forms of a UN agenda for our city.

Should the city council decide not to disavow the “Rio+20” conference and feels that participating in such a conference would be beneficial - we respectfully submit that the city of  Hemet authorize funding for two representatives of Citizens for Accountable Government to serve as the city’s designated ambassadors to “Rio+20”. Our organization has cultivated an extensive inventory of material and a knowledge base and history with this entity and the agenda that they have for our city, and other communities like ours, and we can bring back the necessary information and reports that will help guide future “Sustainable Development” planning efforts and General Plan updates. Should the city direct staff to prepare a report to authorize these funds, our group will provide resumes for our designated representatives to represent the City of Hemet at this transforming event. Information on sustainable development and what it means, as well as sample resolutions to denounce the program on our website sustainablelibertynow.org.

We look forward to hearing from you on this issue.

Respectfully submitted,

WE WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR THIS SITUATION AND REPORT ANY RESULTS
