“So great moreover is the regard of the law for private property, that it will not authorize the least violation of it; no, not even for the general good of the whole community. “ William Blackstone

WHAT ARE THE WARNING SIGNS?

There has been such a methodical, subtle and well planned takeover of our personal property rights and individual freedoms, that we took no notice of the warning signs for DECADES.  When the terminology used became well known to the public and, understandably, not well liked, (take those 2 nasty words "eminent domain"), the verbiage was ditched for a kinder, gentler verbiage.  The process and the ultimate goal never changed, just the rhetoric, the marketing and it was tweaked just enough so that we no longer recognized it on its surface.

Lets use an example of something we use every day:  The quilt.  An item used to keep us warm.  It is larger than our bed sheets,  is typically comprised of two pieces of fabric that is filled and then stitched to hold that fill in.  As we know, throughout time,  the word "quilt" has given away to  the "bedspread", and then that graduated to what we now call a "comforter" - and if you want to get really fancy - you can call it a "duvet".  It doesn't matter what you call it - it still lays on the bed and you throw it over yourself when you get cold.

So goes the plan to erode our personal property rights and individual freedom.  If someone came to you and said that your property was a candidate for eminent domain - you would know EXACTLY what the city and/or county planners had in mind for your property.  You might even realize the threat if they used the words "blight zone" (that doesn't even sound remotely nice anyway).  But now imagine if your property was a potential area for a "community center" or even a "wildlife corridor".    Doesn't that sound wonderful?   Well sure it does - but in order for it to become one of those things - the process that YOU recognize as eminent domain will occur to make that happen.  No longer is it your property - it becomes the governments property.

It is all part of the "smart growth" plan, and don't we all want to be "smart"?   Our phones are "smart", we have "smart appliances",  our homes have "smart meters" that can tell us (and the energy company), precisely how many kilowatts we are using at exactly what time so that we can better budget our energy use  - so why wouldn't we want our property to be part of a "smart growth" plan?

Why?  Because, plain and simple, "smart growth", "sustainability", "green" ect,  are all words used by planners, local, state and federal officials and  marketing consultants to try and sell you the reality of Federal, State and local government control of your personal property and individual freedom.  BILLIONS of dollars have been spent BY OUR OWN GOVERNMENT on focus groups, committees, think tanks ect on how best to brainwash the general public into accepting this government take over of our lives.  From the food our kids eat in school (because, silly parent, the government knows better than you what your child needs), to the light bulbs we use in our homes (let's take out the incandescent light bulb because it throws out some heat and replace it with the CFI light bulb that has the health risk of exposure to mercury), to your "smart" meters and appliances (the meters tell the electric company how much you are using - and if the electric company feels like you are using too much energy - they can shut down your power).  No longer are you free to make decisions for yourself - you only get to choose from the options presented to you by your government.  Unfortunately, we have been asleep far too long.  The grip of the over reaching government strangles us daily - but that does not mean that we give in to it.  We must fight back, not only for us, but for future generations.  We CAN turn this around - it just takes motivation and action.  We can longer sit on the sidelines and wait for "someone else to do it".  Each one of us is that "Someone Else".  This website will not only alert and educate you as to what is going on - but it will give you the tools and the HANDS ON SUPPORT of the Sustainable Liberty Team.  Together we can take back those God given liberties one neighborhood, one city, one county at a time.
